My Michael Rosen Poem

Kia ora bloggers,

This week for our writing and reading we have been foucusing on Michael Rosen if you do not no him I am sorry he is the funniest poet in the world. This week my goal was Plan writing using a variety of ways. Use visual and written language features to engage the audience. Use language that is suitable to the topic, audience and purpose.. Use simple and compound sentences with a variety of beginnings, lengths and structures. Attempt more difficult punctuation. Write content relevant to the task. This week our create is to Imagine or remember a time when you have been in trouble. Tell the story, in the form of a narrative poem, on how you committed the ‘Crime’ but try to make it as funny as possible. Include lots of peculiar noises or sounds for effect as Michael Rosen did in his narrative poem ‘Chocolate Cake.'

This create was really fun beacuse I love writing poems and I think sometimes my stories about being told off.

Here is my create:

What is the funniest time you have been told off?

Wonderful Writing

Kia Ora Bloggers,

This week for writing we got to choose our own topic and I choose Nobody should litter. I made sure I added compound, complex and simple sentences as well as rhetorical questions. I really enjoyed this create seems I am very passionate about nobody littering.

Here is my create:

Nobody should litter

Do you like animals? Do you want to kill them? Probably not right but do you know that litter harms animals? Hi I’m Georgia and today I will be talking about why nobody should litter.

Most people know that litter harms sea animals but did you know that it also harms you? Yes it looks unpleasant but there is another reason it harms you. In the sea there is plenty of small plastic waving around the water, but how does it harm you you may ask? Well the sea animals consume these small pieces of plastic causing you to eat those small bits of plastic. Do you want to eat plastic?

Do you think that litter only affects sea animals? Well if you do you are wrong lots of land animals also get harmed by litter. For example many land animals shelter under rubbish that people have left on the ground, and then if they burn under the rubbish because some rubbish can be glass and cause the sun to attract and then melt the animals.

So in conclusion I think that nobody should litter because it is all animals land and sea and it also harms you. Next time somebody litters will you tell them not to or just leave the litter?

Do you litter??

Magnificent Medal

Kia ora and welcome to my blog,

This week for the literacy task board our task was to make a medal for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. On a google drawing there was a small sheet that told us to look at the gold medals over the years and see how detailed they were. We needed to remember to put Tokyo and 2020 on our medal.

Here is my medal

Fun Facts about the Olympics:
  • Next Olympics will be held in Paris.
  • United States won the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with 39 gold medals.
  • Sydney held the Olympics in 2000.
  • The Olympics have been hosted by 19 different countries since 1896.
  • The Olympic rings represent solidarity and unity among the continents of Africa, North America, South America, Asia, Oceania, and Europe.

The Yellow Umbrella

 Kia Ora,

This week for writing we wrote about Umbrella. Our learning goal is to use a range of written features to engage the audience, use simple and compound sentences with a variety of beginnings, lengths and structures, use some complex sentences to create pace, flow and interest & ensure that most writing is grammatically correct.

Umbrella is a short movie clip about empathy, empathy is about putting your self in some one else's shoes and understanding what they are feeling.

Umbrella is about a little girl and her mother going to an orphanage and giving them toys but then her Umbrella goes missing so she goes up stairs and sees a little boy the reason the little boy called Boris took the Umbrella was because his dad had a yellow Umbrella so the little girl gives the umbrella to Boris.

Here is my writing

When is a time when you showed empathy?

Margaret Mahy Recount

Hi, welcome to my blog and today I will be showing you my town trip recount. The  teachers gave us a template to start writing our recount with stuff we needed to add. This recount was quite fun because I got to think back about the wonderful day we had!

Here is my recount below

On Thursday the 20th of may the tumu hub went on a trip to town to help us with our PBL.

The Tumu hub got dropped off at Margaret Mahy and from there we went to do activities. Korokio stayed at Margaret Mahy to learn more about it. First we did a little scavenger hunt and then we looked at the story ark, carved into the story ark there was a song and one of Elsie Locke’s stories and we got a piece of paper and a crayon to colour over the design and get the designs and then we had a little play.

Next we went to look at the Māroi mats around the town. We only saw 3 different mats. The mat at Margaret Mahy had Pou Medicine because you get hurt at the playgrounds and the gray bricks resembulled whānau (Family). After we looked at the mats we went and fed the tuna. I was the second group in our team. We got cat food and put it on a white plastic spoon. Sadly, no tuna ate the food.

After no tuna ate the food we went on the Waka and learnt some commands. I was on the girl only boat but we had an instructor that was a boy and needed two more people so they had to be boys but mostly girls. To get ready we needed to use the commands. I can't quite remember them but I know that you put your paddle up then down 45 then down in the water then you need to say he ha. He is you paddling and then Ha is tapping it against the side of the Waka.

We took a long walk over to Victoria Square. We got a little snack and it seemed we were hungry then Mrs Brown sent us to look around the park. After that she told us that  Victoria Square used to be somewhere where people traded food and that made me hungry, Mrs Brown told us some more facts about  Victoria Square. Then she gave us some paper to draw the pou after that we walked back to Margaret Mahy.

We walked over to Margaret Mahy and said thank you to the parents for giving up their time to help to thank them. We sang E me naka ana. We were supposed to have an hour of play but the buses arrived earley.

My favourite part of the trip was going on the Waka because you got to shout He Ha and under the bridge it echoed. We didn't learn much on the Waka but we learnt commands for the Waka.

Something I learnt was that Tuna likes cat food and mince.

The thing I found the most interesting was that there is a song caved into the story ark and  the wonderful drawings.

This trip has helped me with my PBL because we learnt so much about New Zealand's past that will help me with the PBL.

Have you ever gone to Margaret Mahy? If so, what is your favorite thing there or have you gone to Victoria square? What's your favorite thing?

THE GIRL ON THE BOAT

THE GIRL ON THE BOAT

Poppy had already travelled for one week and probably many more. She was surrounded in the cold, dark, blue sea. Finally it was the first time that she had caught a fish and her first breakfast, it was delicious

Poppy had not seen anyone on her journey except adventurous Grace.  Poppy found Grace during the second week, Grace was floating on a log from a tree. Poppy invited her to stay with her on her boat that had a house in it.

The next two weeks passed quickly, so by the time it was the fifth week they had run out of things to do and had started to get bored. They decided to fish for a day so they had something to do.

They got lucky and got about a week's worth of fish. Poppy and Grace cooked it all on the hot stove, for their weeks worth of meals. After all the cooking they were tired so they went to sleep.

In the morning it was a bright and sunny day so Poppy and Grace went to adventure the sea. It took about an hour to find something and they found land with a house just for them which had two bedrooms with ensuites, a kitchen, a lounge, a garage with a car,a trampoline,a treehouse and a pool.
